BATON ROUGE, La. — The Southern University track and field team opens its outdoor season this weekend as the Jaguars travel to compete in the Louisiana Classic on March 21 at the Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The meet marks the first outdoor competition of the year for Southern, as the team looks to carry momentum from a strong indoor campaign into the spring season.

The Jaguars will feature a balanced roster across sprints, hurdles, distance, and field events. Southern's sprint group is expected to lead the way, with
Kaden Lewis,
Austin Willis, and
Omari Dupas highlighting the men's 100m and 200m events. On the women's side, Rondisa Williams will be a key contributor in both sprint events and relays.

In the hurdles, Christon Washington will represent Southern in the men's 110m hurdles, while
Demetria Harris leads the women's 100m hurdles group.

Southern's 400m runners will also play an important role, with
Marcus Delcy and
Ronald Johnson pacing the men's field, while
T'La Dewitt and Quenteria Brits lead the women's group in both the 400m and 400m hurdles.

The Jaguars' middle-distance unit will compete in the 800m and 1500m, featuring athletes such as
Keeton Johnson and
Bryce Campbell on the men's side, along with
Aniyah Glover and
Doreen Onchangu for the women.

In the field events,
Roman Smith headlines the high jump, while
Koi Wedderburn and
Reginald King will compete in the horizontal jumps. Southern will also rely on
Michael Fulton and
Haywood Gallien to lead the way in the throwing events.

Southern's relay teams are expected to be a major factor throughout the meet, as both the men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m squads take the track.
