Lathon Wins High Jump, Onchangu Wins Steeplechase on Day 2 of the 2025 SWAC Track & Field Championship

BATON ROUGE, La. | Sahnya Lathon set a personal record with a jump of 1.70m to claim the top spot in women's high jump and Doreen Onchangu set a personal record on her way to winning the 3k Steeplechase, wrapping up day 2 of the 2025 SWAC Track and Field Championship Monday at the A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Lathon, jumped 1.62m during the first round and topped it with a jump of 1.67m in the second attempt. She posted a meet high 1.70m to claim the top spot.

In addition to Lathon big day, Doreen Onchangu also had a big day as she finished first place in the women's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 11.37.20. Shaquka Tyrell finished in third place with a personal record time of 12:03.38.

WOMEN'S TRACK

Rondisia Williams finished third in the 100m in prelims and qualifying for the finals on Tuesday, logging time of 11:82
Jada Chevalier finished third in the 100m Hurdles in prelims and qualifying for the finals on Tuesday, logging time of 13:90

WOMEN'S FIELD

Mashayla Lazard finished sixth in high jump, with a jump of 1.57m and setting a season best jump
In shot put, A'ja Gore placed sixth, with a throw of 12.71m

MEN'S TRACK

Ta'Cardrick Alexander finished tenth in the 800m in prelims and set a personal record, logging a time of 1:52.09
Marciano Taylor finished 12 in the 800m Hurdles in prelims and set a season best time of 1:52.88

MEN'S FIELD

Michael Fulton finished sixth in shot put, posting a throw of 14.98m
