Hess Wins Javelin at 2025 SWAC Track & Field Championships

BATON ROUGE, La. | Jessica Hess led from start to finish to win the women's javelin, wrapping up the opening day of the 2025 SWAC Track and Field Championships on Sunday at A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Hess, the two-sport athlete registered a mark of 40.65m during the first round and topped it with a throw of 43.96m in the third round. She added to her lead with the fourth throw, posting a meet high 45.22m. Her final throw and winning mark of 41.27m.

In addition to Hess's big day, Uzuri Graves also had a big day as she finished fourth in the women's javelin with a throw of 37.85m. Kinzli Zenon threw a season best 35.92m to finish fifth.

WOMEN'S TRACK

Rondisia Williams registered personal best in the 200m by placing 6th in prelims and qualifying for the finals on Tuesday, logging time of 24:00, respectively

WOMEN'S FIELD

Jae'l Dunn finished fourth in the hammer throw, with a toss of 50.37m
In the long jump, Azariah Foster placed fourth, with a leap of 5.78m

MEN'S FIELD

Josiah Parker placed fourth in the discus at 52.45m
Herman Batiste finished fourth in the long jump, posting a mark of 7.37m
