Southern Set for SWAC Quarterfinal vs Grambling State Thursday

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced the field for the 2025 SWAC Women's Soccer Tournament, with Southern earning the No. 7 seed following the conclusion of regular season play. The Jaguars finished conference competition with a 2-5-1 record, securing a spot among the league's top eight teams.

SU's regular season was highlighted by key results over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Alabama State.

As the No. 7 seed, Southern will face No. 2 Grambling State in Match 3 of the quarterfinal round. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the PVAMU Soccer Complex in Prairie View, Texas. The winner will advance to the semifinal round to meet the victor of Match 4 between No. 3 Texas Southern and No. 6 Alcorn State.

Southern eliminated Grambling State in last year's SWAC Tournament after the teams played to a scoreless draw in the semifinals. The Jaguars advanced on penalties and went on to win the championship.

This year's tournament will be played in a single-elimination format, beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. and continuing through Sunday at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
