Southern Drops A Heartbreaker At McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Jaguars controlled the tempo of the game for 50 minutes before special teams woes gave McNeese the edge to take out the Jags 21-7 in front of 16,000 fans at Cowboys Stadium.

"It was tough, to play almost mistake free for three quarters and to have that happen," said Terrence Graves. "I've seen it before and it's never a good feeling. But we've got something to watch on film and improve on."

Freshman Barry Remo scored his first collegiate touchdown as a Jaguar in the second quarter on a one-yard run. The Jaguars QB, Noah Bodden showed some bright spots by getting out the pocket to avoid the defenders and finding open receivers to keep the drive going.

Kobe Dillon led SU in rushing with 52 yards off 14 carries,, while the tight ends led the team in receiving with 73-yards combined of the 132 total passing yards thrown by Bodden. Dupree Fuller finished the night with four catches for 36 yards and Jermaine Minor Jr. added another 37 yards off two receptions.

The Jaguars defense proved once again that they are made for the big moments led by safety Jamarius Brown with seven tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack. Junior All American Ckelby Givens picked right back where he left off last season, finishing the night with 6 tackles and one tackle for loss. Southern's big men in the middle, disrupted McNeese offense all night led by senior defensive tackle, Willie Miles with five tackles and three QB hurries.
