BATON ROUGE, LA | Southern University Baseball's
Tyeler Hawkins earned postseason recognition, being named to the Black College Nines HBCU Large School Post Season Elite Team.
Hawkins, a right fielder from Lexington, KY, is one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference best hitters. He finished the 2024 season ranked in the ten five in every category in hitting in the conference with a batting average of .396 (during conference) with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, three triples and 48 RBI's off 57 hits. He leads the conference in slugging percentage (.660) and on base + slugging percentage ( 1.175).
Selections were made based upon statistical information, mid-season reports including research provided by Black College Nines and both coaching staffs and their sports information directors. Player, pitcher and coach of the year awards were voted upon by Black College Nines and members of the national media.
