Jaguars Drop Weekend Series To Arkansas Pine Bluff

  • The Jags gave up a five run inning off a grand slam by the Golden Lions reserve pitcher Ben VanMaanen. 

  • Southern out hit Arkansas Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon but that wasn't enough to hold off the Golden Lions from securing the weekend series over the Jaguars.

  •  Burkett II picked up his first loss of the season giving up five runs off three hits, throwing 35 pitches with 18 strikes. 
     

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Southern finished the day with fourteen hits and UAPB finished with thirteen hits.

  • Both Southern finished the day with only one error and Arkansas Pine Bluff finished the day with no errors.

  • Southern left thirteen runners on base, while UAPB left eight.

  • Southern finished the night with thirteen strike outs, while UAPB finished with nine.

  • Quincy Smith II scored the Jaguars first run of the day off a wild pitch by the Golden Lions pitcher.

  • All nine Jaguars starters recorded a hit on the day. KJ White led the Jaguars in batting for the third straight day with three hits, while Khyle Radcliffe, Donny Sandifer and Dominic Joseph finished the day with two hits each. Tyeler Hawkins, Quincy Smith II, Jalon Mack, Logan Sanders and Marcus Sanders finished with one hit each.
     

UP NEXT
The Jaguars will be back in action for back-to-back midweek games starting on Tuesday night against Dillard University and Wednesday night against University of the Incarnate Word. Both games are slated at 6 PM live on Jaguar Sports Network.
