LORMAN, MS -- A tale of two halves, the Jaguars fell behind early but battled one possession at a time to fight back in the second half to knock off Alcorn State 61-58 in front of a hostile environment on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 22-of-50 shooting from the field (44.0 percent) and 5-of-13 from 3PT (38.5 percent).
- SU was led by Taylor Williams (7-9 FG, 4-7 FT) finished the day with 19 points, two steals and four rebounds.
- Genovea Johnson (4-13 FG, 3-5 FT) chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and two steals in thirty-four minutes of play. Sky Castro (2-2 FG, 3-6 FT) and Aniya Gourdine (2-5 FG, 2-5 3PT) added seven points each for the Jaguars.
- Nine Jaguars played scored in the contest along with two in double-digits.
- ASU shot 18-of-35 from the field (51.4 percent) and 5-of-9 from 3PT (55.6 percent).
- Southern pulled down 19 rebounds, including 11 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Braves registered 29 rebounds, with 27 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 12-for-26 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Braves sank 17-of-20 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with sixteen steals and nine assists.
- Alcorn State University came away with two steals and ten assists.

Southern will back in action on Monday, February 3rd when the travel I-55 North to Jackson, MS to take on the Lady Tigers from Jackson State University inside the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 PM live on Jackson State Sports Network.
