BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern dominated Alabama State for three quarters to win their second straight game in a row on Monday afternoon. Final score from F. G. Clark Activity Center was 79-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 30-of-63 shooting from the field (47.6 percent) and 2-of-6 from 3PT (33.3 percent).
- SU was led by Genovea Johnson (8-16 FG, 7-9 FT) finished the day with 23 points, two assists and four rebounds.
- Raven White (6-7 FG, 4-5 FT) chipped in 16 points, four rebounds and two steals in twenty-seven minutes of play. Taylor Williams (5-9 FG, 4-5 FT) added 14 points. Aleighyah Fontenot (3-5 FG, 1-2 3PT) and
Kyanna Morgan (3-11 FG, 1-2 3PT) finished the night with seven points each for the Jaguars.
- Eight Jaguars played scored in the contest along with three in double-digits.
- ASU shot 16-of-50 from the field (32.0 percent) and 3-of-13 from 3PT (23.1 percent).
- Southern pulled down 31 rebounds, including 19 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Hornets registered 34 rebounds, with 21 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 17-for-23 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Hornets sank 28-of-36 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with twelve steals and twenty-one assists. Chloe Fleming dropped game-high nine assists on the night.
- Alabama State University came away with six steals and fourteen assists.
UP NEXT
Southern will travel I-10 West to Houston, Texas for the Texas swing as they take on Prairie View (Saturday, February 17th) and Texas Southern (Monday, February 19th). Saturday's game is slated for a 3 PM tipoff and Monday's game is slated for a 5:30 Pm tipoff.
