Givens named a finalist for HBCU+ National Player of the Year

WACO, Tx | Ckelby Givens is one 10 finalists named for the Urban Edge Network's inaugural HBCU+ National Player of the Year award, which will be presented to the outstanding player from 21 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in FCS college football.

Givens the preseason SWAC Defensive Player of the Year has amassed 63 tackles (38 solos), 24.5 TFL (89 yards), 9 sacks (36 yards), 12 QBH, 3 FF, 1 PBU (11 games). He currently is first in the SWAC in tackles for loss, second in sacks and in the top 20 in total tackles.
 
All positions are eligible for the award. The recipient, to be selected by an eight-voter panel involved in HBCU FCS coverage, will be announced on Dec. 9 and invited to the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas.
