BATON ROUGE, LA -- Genovea Johnson led the Jaguars with eighteen points to dismantle Prairie View to pick up their second straight conference win on Monday night inside F. G. Clark Activity Center. Final score was 84-56.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 29-of-63 shooting from the field (46.0 percent) and 5-of-14 from 3PT (41.7 percent).
- SU was led by Genovea Johnson (4-8 FG, 10-12 FT) finished the day with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals.
- Sirviva Legions (5-6 FG) added 10 points for the Jags. Aniya Gourdine (4-8 FG, 1-2 3PT), Tionna Lidge (2-6 FG, 5-6 FT) and Kyanna Morgan (3-7 FG, 3-4 3PT) chipped in nine points each.
- Eleven Jaguars played scored in the contest with two scoring in double digits.
- PVAMU shot 17-of-48 from the field (35.4 percent) and 1-of-14 from 3PT (7.1 percent).
- Southern pulled down 36 rebounds, including 23 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Panthers registered 27 rebounds, with 20 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 21-for-27 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Panthers sank 21-of-30 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with 14 steals and 19 assists.
- Prairie View A&M University came away with nine steals and seven assists.
UP NEXT
Southern will back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel I-10 East to Tallahassee, Florida to take on Florida A&M Rattlers at 1 PM on January 13th inside Alfred Lawson, Jr Multipurpose Center. On Monday afternoon the Jaguars will take on Bethune-Cookman at 4:30 PM at Moore Gymnasium.
