BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Jaguars shot 45 percent the field on Saturday afternoon as they drop their first conference game of the season to Florida A&M inside the Al Lawson Center. Final score was 59-53.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 21-of-47 shooting from the field (45.0 percent) and 2-of-9 from 3PT (22.2 percent).
- SU was led by Genovea Johnson (6-14 FG, 3-4 FT) finished the day with 18 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal.
- Aniya Gourdine (3-6 FG, 2-2 3PT) chipped in eight points in eighteen-minutes of play.
- Nine Jaguars played scored in the contest.
- FAMU shot 17-of-45 from the field (38.0 percent) and 4-of-16 from 3PT (25.0 percent).
- Southern pulled down 31 rebounds, including 16 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Rattlers registered 42 rebounds, with 25 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 9-for-16 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Rattlers sank 21-of-30 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with eleven steals and six assists.
- FloridaA&M University came away with eight steals and seven assists.

Southern will back in action on Monday afternoon the Jaguars will take on Bethune-Cookman at 4:30 PM at Moore Gymnasium.
