BATON ROUGE, LA -- Genovea Johnson led the Jaguars with thirteen points in seventeen minutes to knock off Texas Southern to pick up their first conference win on Saturday afternoon in front of 1859 fans inside F. G. Clark Activity Center. Final score was 64-45.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 27-of-74 shooting from the field (36.9 percent) and 3-of-14 from 3PT (21.6 percent).
- SU was led by Genovea Johnson (6-8 FG, 1-1 3PT) finished the day with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.
- Aleighyah Fontenot (4-11 FG, 2-7 3PT) added 10 points for the Jags. Chloe Fleming (3-6 FG, 2-2 FT) and Tionna Lidge (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT) chipped in eight points each.
- Nine Jaguars played scored in the contest with two scoring in double digits.
- TSU shot 18-of-49 from the field (36.6 percent) and 2-of-13 from 3PT (15.4 percent).
- Southern pulled down 43 rebounds, including 24 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Tigers registered 32 rebounds, with 29 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 7-for-12 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Tigers sank 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with 18 steals and 15 assists.
- Texas Southern University came away with six steals and eight assists.
