Southern Competes In The Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Teen. – Southern University men's and women's indoor track and field program concluded its final day of action at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. The Jaguars came away with five top-10 finishes and multiple athletes gaining personal best finishes.

Things got started early with field events where the Roman Smith finished third overall in the high jump with a jump of 2.04m (6'8") .

Later that afternoon the running events got kicked off where the Jaguars had three top 10 finishes on the track by Trinity Bolden in the 60m dash, Jada Chevalier in the 60m hurdles and Jordan Thompson in the 60m Hurdles.

WOMEN'S TRACK EVENTS

Bolden finished fifth overall in the 60m dash with a time of 7.45 seconds
Chevalier finished seventh overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.75 seconds
Thompson finished fifth overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.052 seconds

WOMEN'S FIELD EVENTS

Camille Lewis finished 10th overall in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m (5'3")
Yahria Bass finished with her personal best in the triple jump with a jump of 11.48m (37'4")

MEN'S TRACK EVENTS

Christion Washington finished with his personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18 seconds
Rushane Miller finished 17th overall out of 58 runners in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:54.21
Marciano Taylor finished 21st overall out if 58 runners in the 800m with his personal best time of 1:54.96
Bryce Campbell finished with his personal best in the one-mile run with a time of 4;36.58

MEN'S FIELD EVENTS

Smith- finished 3rd in the high jump with 2.04m (6'8") high jump
Haywood Gallien finished with his personal best in the shot put with a throw of 12.242m (40"9")
Mehki Smith finished with his personal best in the shot put with a throw of 13.38m (43'10")

UP NEXT
Southern will travel I-10 West to Lake Charles, LA to compete in the McNeese State Invitational on Thursday, January 25th and Friday, January 26th.
