BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Jaguars closed the game on a 17-5 run to overcome a 8-point deficit with five minutes left in the contest to knock off Bethune-Cookman on Monday afternoon. Final score was 71-66.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaguars went 25-of-53 shooting from the field (47.4 percent) and 7-of-16 from 3PT (43.8 percent).
- SU was led by Aleighyah Fontenot (4-8 FG, 4-4 FT) finished the day with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals.
- Genovea Johnson (5-10 FG, 4-4 FT) chipped in 14 points in twenty-four minutes of play. Kyanna Morgan (4-5 Fg, 2-2 3PT) added ten points and Tionna Lidge (4-5 FG, 1-1 FT) finished the night with nine points and a career-high six blocks.
- Nine Jaguars played scored in the contest along with three players in double-digits.
- BCU shot 23-of-50 from the field (46.0 percent) and 2-of-13 from 3PT (15.3 percent).
- Southern pulled down 20 rebounds, including 19 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Wildcats registered 33 rebounds, with 26 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 14-for-15 from the free-throw line.
- The Wildcats sank 18-of-25 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with thirteen steals and eighteen assists.
- Bethune-Cookman University came away with four steals and fifteen assists.
