Southern Football Set To Take On Bethune-Cookman In Jacksonville

BATON ROUGE, La - Southern University football game at Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, October 21 is moving from Daytona Stadium to TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. Due to the 31^st annual Biketoberfest which brings in Motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country as they come together during the four-day rally (October 19-22, 2023) each year to enjoy all the hospitality that Daytona Beach has to offer.

"I want to thank Athletic Director Reggie Theus, his staff and administration for all their hard work on trying to accommodate Jaguar Nation. We know Daytona Beach is a destination city and they have been in communication with us about accommodations, once the conference released the SWAC schedule," Southern athletic director Roman Banks said. "They took the lead and made the best decision for both fan bases and were able to secure us a spot at TIAA Bank Field."

This will be Southern University's first return to the area since 2006 where they played Bethune-Cookman in the 53rd Annual Gateway Classic, where SU won 30-29.

"We are very excited about playing in Jacksonville," Southern head coach Eric Dooley said. "It is going to be great for our guys to get the chance to play in a NFL stadium and for our fan base. We are looking forward to the opportunity for our team."
