BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern will honor eight seniors during the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series against the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff at Lee-Hines Stadium from May 18-20. Thursday and Friday's games are scheduled for 6 p.m. and Saturday's game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
 
Southern (19-26, 14-10) is coming off a series win against Alcorn State where the Jaguars won the first two games of the series before dropping the finale.
 
Arkansas – Pine Bluff (18-29, 10-17) lost their weekend series against Grambling where they lost the first game 2-1, second game 15-11, but won the third game 18-8.
 
The Jaguars are 6-4 against UAPB in the previous 10 meetings between the teams. The Golden Lions took the previous series this season 2-1. The Jaguars won the first game before dropping the final two in the series.
 
Jaylen Armstrong continues to lead Southern at the plate with a .309 average and a team high eight doubles. Armstrong has four home runs and 33 RBIs. Jah'li Hendricks is second on the team with a .298 average with five doubles, three homes runs and 19 RBIs. O'Neill Burgos is hitting .297 with six doubles and a team high 12 home runs and 53 RBIs.
 
On the mound, Nicholas Wilson has been on cruise control in his last four outings. The two-time SWAC Pitcher of the Week has 51 strikeouts compared to just three walks in 32 innings of work over that span. On the year, Wilson is 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 71.2 innings of work, striking out 87 and walking only 19. Jalon Long is 3-3 with an 8.38 ERA in 48.1 innings of work in the weekend rotation. Long has 55 strikeouts and 34 walks on the year.
 
The Golden Lions are led offensively by JaKobi Jackson with a .368 average with 12 doubles and 19 RBIs. Brad Mican is hitting .305 with four doubles and 28 RBIs. Ben VanMaanen has a team high six home runs and 30 RBIs to go along with his .272 average and 11 doubles.
 
Brandon Little and Jacob Riordon have been UAPB's go to arms on the mound. Little is 4-7 with a 6.07 ERA in 72.2 innings with 63 strikeouts and 45 walks. Riordon is 3-4 with a 7.67 ERA with 84 strikeouts and 53 walks in 61 innings. Andre Greene has eight starts with a 6.35 ERA with a 5-5 record while striking out 42 and walking 30.
