MOBILE, AL – Southern and South Alabama will battle it out on Tuesday to see who the best Jaguars are at Stanky Field at 6:30 p.m.
 
Southern (9-17, 5-4) is coming off a weekend series win over Alcorn. The Jaguars walked off the first game in the eighth inning 14-4. Games two and three were more competitive with Alcorn taking game two 15-12 and Southern taking the rubber match 6-1.
 
South Alabama (12-16, 3-6) won three of their four games last week. The Jaguars defeated Nicholls in their midweek matchup before taking two of three from James Madison in the weekend series.
 
South Alabama holds a 4-1 series advantage over Southern. USA won the previous meeting this season 8-3 on March 5.
 
Jaylen Armstrong enters the contest on an eight game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 14 straight games. Armstrong is hitting .360 with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, 19 RBI and 25 stolen bases. Khyle Radcliffe is second on the team with a .318 average with five doubles and 17 RBI.
 
Daren Smith has started the previous two midweek games for Southern. Smith is 1-3 with 11 strikeouts and eight walks in 11.2 innings of work.
 
South Alabama is lead by Will Turner hitting .369 with eight doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 34 RBI on the season. Joseph Sullivan is hitting .307 and Erick Orbeta is hitting .306.
 
The Jaguars have switched their midweek pitcher most of the season between Tyler Smith and Mitchell Heer. Smith has a 9.53 ERA with seven strikeouts and one walk in 5.2 innings of work. Heer is 1-1 with a 5.57 ERA in 21 innings on the mound and struck out 18 batters while giving up eight walks.
