LAFAYETTE, LA – Southern University's baseball team travels to Lafayette for a midweek matchup against the University of Louisiana on April 25 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park for a 6 p.m. first pitch. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Southern (13-21, 8-7) is coming off a midweek win against Dillard University and a series loss to Grambling.
 
Louisiana (26-15, 10-8) won their midweek game against No. 1 LSU on Tuesday but got swept by James Madison in their conference weekend series.
 
Louisiana holds a 9-1 record in the last 10 meetings between the two teams. The Last matchup came on April 22, 2015, a 5-4 loss for Southern in Lafayette.
 
Jaylen Armstrong leads Southern at the plate with a .331 average and a team high six doubles. Armstrong has three home runs and 23 RBIs. Khyle Radcliffe is second on the team with a .303 average with six doubles and 17 RBIs. O'Neill Burgos has seen his hitting increase to .281 with four doubles and team leading six home runs and 37 RBIs.
 
Daren Smith has been a midweek starter for the Jaguars. Smith is 1-4 in 14.1 innings of work, striking out 13 and walking 11. Anthony Fidanza has been in the mix on midweek games. Fidanza is 3-0 in 14.1 innings of work while striking out 17 and walking 11.
 
Heath Hood leads Louisiana at the plate with a .371 average with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 28 RBIs. Julian Brock is hitting .339 with 11 doubles and a team high nine home runs and 45 RBIs. John Taylor and Carson Roccaforte are hitting .306 and .301 respectively.
 
The Regin Cajuns have used a plethora of pitchers in their midweek games throughout the season.
