BATON ROUGE, LA – Southern is sitting in fourth in the SWAC Western Division but could make a huge jump when they host division leading Grambling State at Lee-Hines Stadium on April 21-23.
 
Friday's contest is set for 6 p.m. and Saturday is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday's finale is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
 
Southern (12-19, 7-5) is coming off a midweek win against Dillard University on Wednesday night.
 
Grambling (16-19, 11-3) lost their midweek matchup 19-3 against Incarnate Word, but they defeated Alcorn State in the two games they played on April 14-15.
 
Southern holds a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 meetings between the two schools. This season the teams have split the series 2-2. Southern took the first game 4-3 in Houston and game three 8-7 at Grambling. Grambling won games two and four by the scores of 8-7 and 16-6.
 
Jaylen Armstrong leads Southern at the plate with a .351 average and a team high six doubles. Armstrong has three home runs and 21 RBIs while reaching base safely in 18 straight games. Khyle Radcliffe is second on the team with a .314 average with five doubles and 17 RBI. O'Neill Burgos is hitting .275 with three doubles and team leading six home runs and 33 RBIs.
 
Friday night starter, Jalon Long is 2-2 with 47 strikeouts and 26 walks in 38 innings. Nicholas Wilson has come on strong in his nine appearances at 2-2 with 36 strikeouts and 16 walks in 39.2 innings.
 
Grambling has four batters hitting over .300 on the year led by Keylon Mack at .382. Mack has 12 doubles, six homes runs and 35 RBIs. Trevor Hatton is hitting .333 with nine doubles, five triples, 9 home runs and 56 RBIs. Tiger Borom is hitting .330 and Cameron Bufford is hitting .328.
 
The Tigers use Lorenzo Petersen as their Friday night starter. Petersen is 3-2 with a 5.36 ERA with 38 strikeouts and 27 walks in 50.1 innings. Connor Rudy is 5-4 with a 6.17 ERA in 54 innings with 42 strikeouts and 24 walks as the Saturday starter. Sunday starter Kerry Boykins is 2-1 with a 4.66 ERA and 11 strikeouts and eight walks in 19.1 innings of work.
