HOW IT HAPPENED

• Southerns' Jaylen Armstrong hits s three-run homer to close the game out in the eighth inning.
• ASU started out strong scoring runs in the first three innings but fizzled out dropping game one to the Jags.
• Long pitched six innings seeing 20 batters and giving up four runs off five hits.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Southern finished the night with twelve hits and ASU finished the night with five hits.
• Southern finished the game with only one error, while Alcorn State finished the game with two errors.
• Southern left twelve runners on base, while ASU left three.
• Southern struck out four times and Alcorn State struck five times.
• Armstrong picked up the Jags first run of the day off O'Neill Burgos double to right center. Jaylen Armstrong led the Jaguars with four runs on the day while, Jah'li Hendricks and Khyle Radcliffe scored two runs. Jacoby Radcliffe, Justin Wiley, JJ Rollon, Hunter Tabb,  Burgos and Nava Sanchez scored one run each.
• Six different Jaguars batters recorded a hit. Armstrong and Burgos led SU with three hits, while Hendricks and Radcliffe finished two hits each on the day. Nava Sanchez and Rollon finished the day with one hit each.
