Baseball Faces Houston on Wednesday

HOUSTON Southern's baseball team travels to Houston for a midweek matchup on Wednesday at Schroeder Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Southern (5-13, 1-2) is coming off a weekend series against Grambling in which they took one game against the Tigers.
 
Houston (8-11) comes into the matchup having just swept Minnesota over the weekend. The Cougars play McNeese on Tuesday night.
 
Houston won the only meeting in the series between the two schools, a 7-4 win in Houston last season.
 
Southern continues to be led offensively by Jaylen Armstrong, Khyle Radcliffe and Hunter Tabb. Armstrong is hitting a team high of .373 on the year. He also leads the team with four doubles, one triple, two home runs and 15 stolen bases. Radcliffe is hitting .286 with three doubles, a triple and a team high 14 RBI. Tabb third on the team with a .242 average.
 
Antoine Harris has been Southern's midweek starter for all three games this season. Harris is 0-2 with seven strikeouts and eight walks in 11 innings of work.
 
Houston is led offensively by Alex Lopez, Malachi Lott and Cameron Nickens. Lopez is hitting .339 with three doubles and nine RBI on the year. Lott has a .289 average and Nickens has a .283 average with a team high five doubles and 10 RBI.
 
Lott has started the first two midweek games of the year for Houston. Lott is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA with six strikeouts and six walks in 12 innings of work. Travis Phelps and Josh Ekness have started the last two midweek contest for the Cougars. Phelps is 1-0 with a 3.0 ERA and Ekness is 1-2 with a 3.92 ERA.
