Southern Falls On The Road At Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Al. | Jalen Reynolds led the Jaguars offensively, scoring a career-high 17 points to go along with three rebounds and one block. Two other Jaguars scored in double figures. TTerrell Williams Jr. scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds. Tyrone Lyons finished with 10 points and four rebounds. 
 
Southern (12-12, 8-3 SWAC) dropped back-to-back games as they fell on the road to Alabama State (7-17, 5-6) 66-73 Monday night at Dunn-Oliver Acadome. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
  • Southern shot 35.7 percent (25-of-70) from the field, 11.1 percent (3-of-27) from the 3-point line and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free-throw line
  • Southern finished with 38 points in the paint, 29 bench points, 18 points off 13 Hornets Turnovers, 18 second-chance points and 11 fast break points
  • Jaguars outrebounded ASU on the offensive end 21-14
  • ASU went 26-of-59 (44.1 percent) from the floor, 6-of-19 (31.6) from the 3-point line and 15-of-19 (78.9 percent) from the charity stripe
  • Alex Anderson, Eric Coleman, Roland McCoy and Jordan O'Neal all scored in double figures for the Hornets. Anderson finished with a team-high 19 points
  • ASU finished with 24 points in the paint, 18 points off 15 SU turnovers, 16 fast break points, 13 second-chance points and 10 bench points
UP NEXT 
Southern returns to the friendly confines of the F.G. Clark Activity Center as they host Prairie View A&M on Saturday Feb. 11. Tip-off against the Panthers is set for 5:30 p.m. central time and the game will be live streamed on Jaguar Sports Network. It is also church night in the Mini Dome.
