Men's Basketball Slow Start Dooms Jaguars at Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, AL. | Bryson Etienne led the Jaguars offensively, scoring a team-high 16 points to go along with two rebounds and two Steals Brion Whitley finished with 10 points.
 
Southern (12-11, 8-2 SWAC) sluggish start wasn't enough to overcome as they fell on the road to Alabama A&M (9-14, 5-5) 61-82 Saturday night at the Event Center. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
  • Southern shot 42.6 percent (20-of-47) from the field, 25.0 percent (5-of-20) from the 3-point line and 88.9 percent (16-of-18) from the free-throw line
  • Southern finished with 25 bench points, 25 points off 15 Bulldogs Turnovers, 24 points in the paint, 15 fast break points and two second-chance points 
  • Alabama A&M went 31-of-50 (62.0 percent) from the floor, 9-of-20 (45.0) from the 3-point line and 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) from the charity stripe
  • Bulldogs finished with 30 points in the paint, 28 bench points, 21 points off 17 SU turnovers, nine fast break points and six second-chance points
