Givens Named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week

The Southern University football program nabbed one Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Weekly honor on Monday as defensive end Ckelby Givens was named defensive player of the week, the conference announced.

Givens recorded a big night for the Jaguars, registered 9 total tackles, including four tackles for a loss of 10 yards and two quarterback hurries. The Shreveport, LA. native posted 2.5 sacks, including a forced fumble, as SU picked up the conference win.

UP NEXT
The Jaguars return home for a two-game home stand at A.W. Mumford Stadium starting on Oct. 7th as they face-off with the Rattlers from Florida A&M at 6 PM. The game will be live on ESPNU.
