PINE BLUFF, AR -- The Jaguars offense got their running game rolling for the first time this season, while the Jags defense continues to dominate. Pitching its first shut out of the season. Final score from Simmons Bank Field was 27-0 on Saturday evening.

The Jaguars QB Harold Blood played a solid game going 19-for-21 for 246 yards and two touchdown passes. Graduate running back Gary Quarles Jr. picks up his first 100-yard game of the season, finishing the night with 15 carries for 104 yards and a 33-yard TD scamper right up the middle of the field. August Pitre III led the Jaguars receivers with 60 yards off 4 catches and a 30-yard TD grab from Blood.

Senior punter Robens Beauplan averaged 43-yards a punt on the night and junior kicker Joshua Griffin delivers another amazing performance for the Jaguars with a 22-yard field goal, 42-yard field goal and three PAT's. Griffin averaged 60 yards a kickoff along with three touchbacks.

The Jaguars defense forced five turnovers on the night led by graduate linebacker Jalen Campbell with 12 tackles and a pass breakup. Derrick Williams and Ckelby Givens finished the night with nine tackles each. Givens led the "Dog Day D" with 2.5 sacks and four tackles for a 10-yard loss, a force fumble and two quarterback hurries. Graduate defensive end Tahj Brown finished the night with 1.5 sacks, a force fumble, a fumble recovery along with five tackles. Jordan Carter turned another solid performance with six tackles, a force fumble, an interception and two pass breakups.

The Jaguars return home for a two-game home stand starting on Oct. 7th as they face-off with the Rattlers from Florida A&M at 6 PM and on Oct. 14th they host Lincoln University from Oakland, California for Homecoming 2023. The Florida A&M game will be live on ESPNU with the voices of Tiffany Greene and Jay Walker.
