BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southerns' fast pace offense and stout defense was a little bit to much for Florida Memorial on Saturday night as the Jaguars open the 2022 campaign with a 86-0 blowout at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
The Jaguars put up 611 yards of total offense off 64 plays, including 396 on the ground and 215 through the air, while the defense held the Lions to 92 yards of total offense.
In his first game back in Mumford stadium, Coach Dooley's balance offesive attack was led by quarterback
Besean McCray with 157 yards of total offense, 79 through the air and 78 on the ground. Junior running back
Jerodd Sims added 133 yards total offense and three touchdowns.
Jordan Monroe led the defense with six stops, five solo and a half tackle for loss.
Tyevanshay Farmer chipped in with five tackles, a half for loss. The defense also recorded a three of turnovers.
UP NEXT
Southern will travel across town to take on the Louisiana State University Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
