BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern University (3-7-1, 0-2) gave up a goal in the seventh minute and could not find the back of the net against Grambling State University (4-6-1, 1-0-1), falling 1-0 inside A.W. Mumford Stadium/Pete Richardson Field Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling got on the board first in the seventh minute. Karlyn Judge was able to send the ball bouncing over Sydney Bellamy's head to give GSU a 1-0 lead.
- The Lady Jaguars had plenty of chances in the first half. SU had 11 shots with eight being on goal. The Lady Jaguars also had five corners.
- The Lady Jaguars continued to put pressure on in the second half, finishing with nine more shots.
- Southern would not be able to connect and get the equalizer past the GSU goalkeeper.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- SU had 20 shots compared to nine by the GSU.
- The Lady Jaguars finished with 14 shots on goal compared to four by Grambling.
- Southern finished the game with three saves compared to 14 by GSU.
- The Lady Jaguars had three fouls; Grambling finished with nine.
- SU had eight corners to five by GSU.

Southern will travel to Itta Bena, Mississippi on Friday September 30 for a 4 p.m. game against Mississippi Valley.
