HAMMOND, La. – The Southern University Lady Jaguars (0-11) found themselves up 2-1 after three sets but would fall to Northwestern State University in five sets Saturday afternoon inside the University Center on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern would fight trading points with NSU to begin the set. Four straight points forced the Lady Jaguars to take a time out down 4-7. The Lady Demons would continue to attack and force Southern to take their second time out up 7-16. The Lady Jaguars would make a little run to get within five at 15-20. NSU would get six of the final seven points to take set two.
- The Lady Jaguars did not let the first set discourage them. Fighting back and forth, Southern called a timeout with the score 11-14. The teams would continue to battle and trade points. NSU had the biggest lead of the match at 17-21 forcing Southern to use their second timeout. Southern would come out and take the next six out of eight points forcing NSU to use their first timeout of the set. The Lady Jaguars would take their first lead of the match off a block Jordan Felix and Xaria Taylor, forcing the Lady Demons to use their second timeout. NSU would send the following point long, giving the Lady Jaguars the second set 25-23.
- NSU would take the early lead over the Lady Jaguars at 2-5. Southern would claw their way back to 8-9 and force the Lady Demons to use a timeout. The Lady Jaguars would not let NSU pull away and would tie the game at 177 apiece and for another Lady Demon timeout. After the timeout, the teams would continue to go back and forth. Southern would take their second time out with the score tied at 23. The Lady Jaguars would use that timeout to their advantage. NSU would hit the next serve long. Trinity Brown would then hit an ace to get the Lady Jaguars set three.
- Southern would continue their momentum into the fourth set, winning the first two points. NSU would get the next three before the Lady Jaguars took the next five. NSU would call their first timeout with Southern up 7-3. The teams would continue to trade runs. NSU would make a run and take the lead 13-16 and force Southern to call their first timeout. After the timeout, the teams would continue to trade points until SU used their second timeout down 17-21. The Lady Jaguars would make a little push, but NSU would take the fourth set, 19-25, forcing a deciding fifth set.
- NSU would jump out to a quick lead at 0-2. Teams would trade points back and forth and Southern would call a timeout down 6-9. SU would use the second time out down 7-11. NSU would close out the match taking four of the final five points.

- Southern had five aces compared to six by the Lady Demons
- Teams had 10 blocks apiece
- The Lady Jaguars had 44 assists while the NSU had 57
