HAMMOND, La. – The Southern University Lady Jaguars (0-11) fell to Louisiana Tech (6-6) 0-3 and the University of Louisiana at Monroe (5-7) 0-3 Friday at the Battle for the Boot hosted by Southeastern.
Match 1 – SU 0, LA Tech 3
(9-25, 24-25, 27-29)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- LA Tech jumped out to a quick seven-point lead after a few Lady Jaguar errors. The closest Southern would get is 3-9. The Lady Techsters would take the first set 9-25.
- Southern rebounded nicely and held the lead for most of set two. Tech would get four straight points to tie the set at 20 apiece. The Lady Jaguars would turn around and take the next three before Tech would take six out of the last seven to take the second set, 24-26.
- The third set started with the teams' trading points before SU would get four straight and hold a 13-9 lead. Southern held a 15-11 lead before Tech came away with five straight points to reclaim the lead. Another run by Southern gave them a four-point lead at 22-18. Tech would respond with five straight of their own for another lead change. Southern would hold the lead at 26-25 and 27-26 before Tech closed out the match with three straight points for a 27-29 win.

- LA Tech held a 37-26 advantage in kills
- Southern had two aces compared to seven by Tech
- The Lady Jaguars had four blocks while the Tech had 11
- The Lady Jaguars had 24 assists while the Lady Techsters had 34
- Southern came away with 37 digs to 32 from Tech
- Leah Draine and Jordan Felix both had six kills to lead the Lady Jaguars
- Kyla Carrier had 12 assists and Felix had 10 to be the Lady Jaguars in double-digits
- Marian Attaway had 10 digs for Southern
Match 2 – SU 0, ULM 3
(15-25, 14-25, 19-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern took the first point of the match but ULM quickly took the next six. The Lady Jaguars kept things close, battling back and forth with the Warhawks. With the score 15-16 in ULM's favor, they scored the final nine points to win set one 15-25.
- SU once again took the first point of the set. The Lady Jaguars continued to battle ULM by keeping the set close. With The Lady Jaguars behind 11-9, ULM used a couple runs to pull away. The Warhawks would win set two 14-25.
- The third set saw the Lady Jaguars fall behind by as many as 13 at 3-16. With their back against the wall, SU continued to claw their way back by winning 16 of the final 25 points. However, that was not enough as ULM would take set three 19-25 to secure the match win.

- ULM held a 44-23 advantage in kills
- Southern had one aces compared to eight by ULM
- The Lady Jaguars had a 7-5 advantage in blocks
- SU had 21 assists while the Warhawks had 41
- Southern came away with 26 digs to 32 from the Louisiana Monroe
- Xaria Taylor had six kills to lead Southern
- Carrier had 10 assists for SU
- Taylor and Akilah Smith had three blocks apiece
- Nyah Alexander had nine digs for the Lady Jaguars
