Box Score BATON ROUGE, La. – A goal in the first eight minutes by the LSU Alexandria (2-1) woke up Southern University (3-5-1). From that point on, the Lady Jaguars controlled the pace of the game on their way to a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon inside Jaguar Park.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Generals scored first when a ball found its way into the box and Rosanna Freeman was able to get the slow dribbler into the bottom right corner of the net just inside the eighth minute.
• The Lady Jaguars used that goal as a wakeup call and controlled the rest of the half. SU had the ball for 56% of the time with 77% of that being in the Generals territory.
• In the 27th minute, Lonnie Mulligan received a pass from Aniya Clark scored the equalizer. The Lady Jaguars would continue to put pressure on with 15 shots.
• Southern continued to put on pressure to start the second half. Within the first seven minutes, the Lady Jaguars got off three shots that were all too hard.
• In the 55th minute, Kyra Reeves found herself weaving in between multiple General defenders. From just outside the box, she fired the ball through the bottom left corner for the eventual game winner.
• Southern continued to dominate LSUA has they held possession of the ball for almost 54 minutes, over 40 minutes on the Generals side of the field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• SU had a blistering 28 shots compared to 9 by LSUA
• Southern had six shots on goal while the Generals had four
• LSUA finished the game with four saves compare to three by Southern
• The Lady Jaguars had four fouls to six by LSUA
• Southern dominated the corner with nine shots to just two by LSUA

The Lady Jaguars will be back in action on Friday, September 23 as they begin conference play against the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff. First kick is schedule for 6 p.m. in Jaguar Park.
