MIAMI – The Southern University Lady Jaguars fell in the finale of their Florida Peninsula road trip to Florida International University, 4-2.
Southern gave up 10 first half shots but only trailed 2-1 at the intermission. The defense stepped up in the second half, allowing half as many shots, but still was outscored by the same 2-1 score.
Sophomore goalie
Sydney Bellamy continues to be a strength for the team. She followed up a 13 save performance on Thursday with a five save outing. She now has 26 saves in four games this season.
Helaun Mulligan gave the Lady Jaguars an early lead in the fifth minute with her third goal on the season.
Kirstyn Hale scored her first goal in a Southern uniform in the 85th minute to close out the scoring.

Southern will return to the state to face McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
