AUSTIN, TX – The Southern University Track and Field teams competed at the Texas Relays at the Mike A Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
The Texas Relays got started on Wednesday with the first Jaguar taking to the track on Thursday.
Sierra Session got things started in the 400m hurdles and ran 1:05.41, which was just tenths of a second off her personal best.
Jordan Thompson had a fantastic weekend. Thompson set a personal best of 53.7 in the 400m hurdles on Thursday to finish ninth in the field of 42. He then came back on Friday to set a personal best of 14.69 in the 110m hurdles. He was also part of the 4x400 team that took home the crown in the University/Collegiate division.
The team of
A'niya Galloway,
Trinity Kirk,
Kennedy Pedro and
Trinity Bolden took home a second-place finish in the 4x100 with a time of 49.86. The 4x400 had the team of Qymeshia Mayhew, Anijah Williams, Kirk and
Shani Simon who was able to come away in eighth with a time of 3:51.06.
The Jaguars continued to show impressive strides when
Jada Chevalier ran a personal best of 14.45 in the 100m hurdles. Bolden tried her hand against the best in the country in the 100m. She would go on to set a personal best of 11.6.
DeAnthony Nervis would also set a personal best in the 100m, finishing with a time of 10.45.
Terrell Chevalier was able to set a personal best in the 110m hurdles at 15.28.
The final event of the meet would see the team of Thompson,
Nicholas Scott, Nervis and
Kason Jones take home the 4x400 University/Collegiate division with a time of 3:11.65.
Southern was scheduled to compete at the Bobcat Invitational but decided to sit it out after the Texas Relays.
Next Up
The Jaguars will be back in action on April 2 for the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
