AUSTIN, TX – The Jaguars are set to compete in two meets this weekend in Texas. First up for Southern in the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas. The Jaguars will then travel to San Marcos, TX for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State.
The Jaguars are coming off an impressive showing at the Louisiana Classic where they placed 16 athletes inside the top-10 and picking up three victories.
Trinity Bolden continues to have a phenomenal sophomore campaign. She is coming off second place finishes in the 100m (11.91) and 200m (24.53) and is looking to take it up a notch against some of the best competition in the country.
Kennedy Pedro also had strong showings in the 100m and 200m last week. Pedro finished in 10
th out of a field of 48 with a time of 12.17 in the 100m. In the 200 she finished in 11
th out of 64 with a time of 24.92.
The team of
A'nijah Williams,
Shani Simon,
Trinity Kirk and
Qymeisha Mayhew are looking to continue their strong showing in the 4x400. Finishing the indoor season on a strong note, the team took home the crown at the Louisiana Classic and will look to see where they stand against the rest of the nation.
DeAnthony Nervis will also look to build on his strong showings in the 100m and 200m. He finished in the top-10 at both events last weekend.
Nicholas Scott, winner of three straight 800m, will look to continue his strong finale campaign. Scott has competed in the 800 four times this year, three in the indoor season, and has not placed lower than second. He has improved his time in each meet.
After finishing as runner-up in the SWAC Indoor Championship, the team of
Jordan Thompson, Nervis, Scott and
Kason Jones broke away and won the 4x400 by two seconds at the Louisiana Classic. They will be another group looking to see where they stack up against the best.
Events at the Texas Relays will begin on March 23 at 10am and last through Saturday. The Bobcat Invitational will begin on March 24 and run through Saturday.
