BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Jaguars improved to 4-0 at home and 5-2 overall after a dominating performance over Virginia University of Lynchburg inside A. W. Mumford Stadium on homecoming night. Final score was 51-7.

Besean McCray led the balance attack that dismantled the Dragons defense all night long, going 18-of-22 for 286 yards and added fourteen yards on the ground accounting for three touchdowns. Freshman running back Karl Ligon led the Jags rushing attack two weeks in a row with 68-yards and a score. For the second week in a row the Jaguars has a 100-yard receiver, this week its Cassius Allen. He finished the night with 124 yards off five receptions and a touchdown.

With many pieces to the Jaguars defense sitting due to disciplinary actions enforced by the SWAC office, the legendary Dog Day D was still in full swing led by Ckelby Givens with six tackles and one tackle for a three-yard loss. Tahj Brown picked up a season-high three sacks. Jalan Campbell added five tackles along with two of the Jaguars eight sacks on the day.

UP NEXT
Southern will travel I-55 north to Jackson, MS for a heavyweight fight against the Tigers of Jackson State inside Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN Networks.
