BATON ROUGE, LA. – Southern (5-8-1, 2-3) got down early and could not get past the stifling defense of Alabama A&M (4-8-1, 2-2-1), falling 2-0 under the lights of A.W. Mumford Stadium/Pete Richardson Field Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Jaguars got three shots in the first 15 minutes but were unable to come away with anything.
- A penalty kick in the 17th minute game the Bulldogs the lead, 1-0.
- Another goal by A&M in the 29th minute put Southern behind even more, 2-0.
- SU would finish out the half with four more shots with three on goal.
- Southern would only get three more shots in the second half where the Bulldogs controlled the pace of play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- SU had 11 shots compared to eight by Alabama A&M
- The Lady Jaguars finished with Seven shots on goal, while A&M had four
- Southern finished the game with two saves compared to seven by the Bulldogs
- The Lady Jaguars would commit seven fouls and the Bulldogs had 11.
- Southern had a match high six corners. The only corner for Alabama A&M was in the first half.
