Diamond Hunter 17-point effort helps the Jaguars upend the Golden Lions on Saturday night inside F.G. Clark Activity Center in front of 1,789 fans. Final score was 78-64.
SU dominated UAPB in the paint outscoring them 44-24 led by junior forward

Hunter led the Jaguars off the bench shooting 3-of-4 from behind the arc, finishing the day with 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Senior guard Amani Mcwain finished the night with 14 points, 7 rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of play. Genovea Johnson finish the day with with 11 points and six rebounds. Nakia Kincey finished the day with ten points. White added nine points, six rebounds and a steal. Taneara Moore added seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal.

The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Tigers to 23 turnovers, picking up 21 points off turnovers. SU played 12 players with 9 landing in the scoring column. Southern shot a whopping 53 percent for the game (31-58) and 28 percent from behind the arc (5-18). SU shot 78 percent from the charity stripe finishing (11-14).
Joyce Kennerson led the way for the Golden Lions with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. Maya Peat added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Southern will return to action on Monday, January 24th as they take on Mississippi Valley State University inside F. G. Clark Activity Center. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 PM.
