BATON ROUGE, LA. – Southern University (2-6-1, 0-2) fell to the Prairie View A&M Panthers (4-2-2, 2-0) 1-0 Saturday morning in Jaguar Park.
The Lady Jaguars continued thier strong defense play. They were able to hold off the Lady Panthers in the first half. SU blocked 6 shots and goalie
Chioma Eriken made two saves.
Prairie View did find the back of the net in 22
nd minute. PV tried to extend the lead but were denied several times.
During the second half, the Lady Jaguars continued to be mostly on the defensive side of the ball. The offense continued to struggle getting only one shot on goal over the course of the match. They finished with a total of nine shots.
"We came out and we played for each other," Head Coach
Jeremy Fontenot said. "We were able to play the full 90 minutes. We didn't get the outcome we wanted or needed. We need to pick up from here and make sure we finish out with a good season."
Eriken held strong in the second half with nine of her 11 saves.
Coach Fontenot added "We need to continue to play for each other. Make sure that we take care of the person next to us."

The Lady Jaguars will travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Friday, October 1st for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
