SU Volleyball Open Season in Round Robin at Nicholls State

BATON ROUGE, LA – Southern University volleyball opened the 2021 fall season in Thibodaux, LA as they participated in the Colonel Classic on the campus of Nicholls State University.
 
Game 1 – Niagara 3 SU 1
(18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 18-25)
 
The Jaguars were led by junior Kendall Dutton and freshman Elise Doomes who both tallied 14 kills which paced the team for a total 55 kills in the match. Ryleigh Taylor finished with 23 assists followed by Kyla Carrier with 17. Doomes also led the team in digs with 17.
 
Game 2 – Texas Southern 3 SU 1
(20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-9)
 
Elise Doomes led the way for the Jaguars with 10 kills followed by Kendall Dutton and Xaria Taylor who both finished the game with eight kills. Ryleigh Taylor completed the game with 20 assists followed by Kyla Carrier with 14. Trenity Lundy posted a game high 19 digs and Taylor added 15 digs. Dutton and Ravon Robertson both had three blocks during the match with Taylor adding two.
 
Game 3 – Nicholls 3 SU 0
(14-25, 11-25, 8-25)
 
Ryleigh Taylor led the team with 12 digs and 10 assists, freshman Trenity Lundy finished the game with 11 digs. Ravon Robertson had five kills followed by Kendall Dutton and Nya Campbell with three kills.

Next Up
The Jaguars travel to Hammond, Louisiana to participate in the Southeastern Showdown with matches against Auburn University, California State at Fullerton and Southeastern Louisiana University on September 3rd and 4th.
