Southern Wins Home Opener 2-0 Over LSU-A

Box Score BATON ROUGE, LA. -- The Southern University women's soccer team defeated the Louisiana State University at Alexandria 2-0 off two goals scored by Alyssa Terry, Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Park.

Southern (1-1) scored early in the first half off a Alyssa Terry  first goal of the young season at the six minute mark of the game. SU had a season high 14 shots on goal in the first half. 

In the second half, the Lady Jaguars picked up right where they left off in the first half by dominating the goal area with 16 more shots on goal. Terry picked up her second goal of the day off a Victoria Thomas assist at the ten minute mark in the second half. 
 
"This game was the one for her to get her chances to find the goal, she had five shots today with three on goal", said Coach Jeremy Fontenot talking about Alyssa Terry performance this afternoon.  

The Lady Jaguars were able to get off 30 shots on goal against the Lady Generals, led by Terry and Cordney Armstrong who finished the game with five shots on goal, followed by Amina Booker and Brekel Tibbs each with three shots on goal. Goalie, Sydney Bellamy finished with six saves for Southern in 90-minutes of play.  

Jordan Thibideaux led the Lady Generals with five shots on goal in 90-minutes of play. 

UP NEXT
The Lady Jaguars will be back in action on Saturday, August 28th, when they host University of North Dakota at 1:00 pm at Jaguar Park.
