Southern Sweeps Alcorn on Senior Night, Behind Kincey's 20 Point Night

BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Southern Lady Jaguars sweep Alcorn State on the season, with a dominating performance on senior night at the F. G. Clark Activity Center 72-46.

With 3:38 left in the first half the Lady Jaguars nursed a ten point lead over the Lady Braves, then Chloe Fleming drained a long distance three to put the Jaguars up by thirteen points. On the next play Amani Mcwain grabs a defensive rebound and takes it coast to coast for a layup to give the Jaguars a 13 point lead to end the first half 31-18.

Kincey led the SU in scoring with a season and career high 20 points off seventy percent shooting from behind the 3-point line. Amani Mcwain added 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Tyeniesha Metcalf finished the day with eleven points, four rebounds and four assists. Chloe Fleming finished the night with 10 points.

"We came out tonight with the type of effort defensively that it takes to win basketball games. Offensively we took care of the basketball and got it to the open shooters. I think that every player contributed to the win and that's what it takes to be a championship caliber team. We will go back to practice on Monday and get ready for our last two regular season games", said Head Coach Carlos Funchess.

The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Braves to 18 turnovers, picking up 21 points off turnovers. SU played all nine players with eight landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 46 percent for the game (27-58) and 45 percent from behind the arc (9-20). SU shot 56 percent from the charity stripe finishing (9-16).

Kirdis Clark led the Lady Braves with 14 points and Cayla Obillo added 10 points.
