BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern opens the 2021-22 season at home in an exhibition game against LSU- Alexandria in front of 450 fans inside F. G. Clark Activity Center. Final score was 76-53.

The Lady Jaguars was down 37-31 going into the half, but picked up the intensity in the third quarter out scoring the Lady Generals 25-4 take control of the tempo and momentum for the rest of the game.

SU had three players finish the night in double-digits led by senior guard Kayla Watson with a game-high 15 points and four steals. Senior guard Nakia Kincey added 13 points and three steals. Sophomore guard Diamond Hunter  was perfect from the charity stripe going 2-of-2 (100%) along with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Taneara Moore finished the night with a game-high five steals and four rebounds in 17 minutes of play.

The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Generals to 35 turnovers, picking up 41 points off turnovers. SU played all thirteen players with twelve landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 35 percent for the game (27-78) and 14 percent from behind the arc (5-35). SU shot 81 percent from the charity stripe finishing (17-21)

Brittany Smith led the Lady Generals with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds. Reagen Ojoro and Amani Gray finished the night with nine points each.

Southern open the regular seaon on the road at #23 Texas A&M in College Station, TX. The gma is slated for a 7 :PM tipoff on SEC Network.
