BATON ROUGE, LA-- Southern drops a close one to Jackson State on senior night in front of a packed house at A.W. Mumford Stadium. Final score was 21-17.
The Jags took a seven point lead into the half, 14-7 and came out in the second half fighting blow for blow all the way to the last play. SU went for it all on fourth down to try to win the ball game but
Glendon McDaniel pass was intercepted in the end zone by JSU's Shilo Sanders to seal the victory for Jackson State.

Glendon McDaniel finished the night going 16-of-24 for 176 yards and one touchdown pass to junior tight-end Gregory Perkins. Sophomore running back Jerodd Sims led the Jags rushing attack with 104 yards off 25 carries and a 32-yard TD run. Ethan Howard finished the night with five catches for a team-high 58 yards.
The Jaguars defense played a solid game all night led by senior All-American
Chase Foster with eight tackles in his last home game of his career. Linebacker Ray Anderson held down the middle of the field with six tackles and 1.5 tackles for a total of 5-yard loss. Tyran Nash finished the night with four tackles, 1.5 tackles for 14-yard loss and one sack for a 12-yard loss.
Shedeur Sanders led the Tigers in passing and rushing on the night. Going 24-of-31 for 260 yards and two touchdowns and adding 33 yards omn the ground off 11 carries. Malachi Wideman finished the night with 81 yards recieving and two touchdowns.
UP NEXT
Southern will be back in action next week on Nov. 27th in the 48th annual Bayou Classic in the Ceasars Superdome. The game is slated for a 4 PM kickoff on NBC Sports.
