BATON ROUGE, LA—The Southern University Jaguars (3-8, 2-3) opened the cluster hosted by Florida A&M University with a win against the Alabama State Lady Hornets.
The Lady Hornets jumped out on the Jaguars and took an early one set advantage before SU was able to win the next three sets and overall match victory. Match four saw both teams push for extra points, but the determination of the Jaguars was impeccable.
The Jaguars were led by Freshman
Elise Doomes with a team high 12 kills followed by
Nya Campbell with eleven.
Doomes along with
Ryleigh Taylor both finished the game with 3 aces respectively.
Taylor also led the team in assists, setting her teammates up 26 times.
