SU lead by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter while sophomore guard
Genovea Johnson, sophomore center Raven White and senior guard Nakia Kincey all finished the afternoon in double digit scoring.
Johnson finished the night with 13 points, two rebounds, and three steals. Kincey added eleven points, four rebounds and 4 steals and White chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and one steal.
Caitlin Davis finished with nine points and Taneara Moore had a season/career high seven steals along with six points.
"Tonight we did a very good job in the press and created some easy scoring opportunities. I was really pleased with our effort defensively in the second half, ostensibly we got some good looks at the basket but didn't convert on a lot of easy buckets. We're going to get back in the gym tomorrow and get ready for Mississippi Valley State University Monday.", said Head Coach Carlos Funchess.
The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Lions to 34 turnovers, picking up 32 points off turnovers. SU played all eleven players with all eleven landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 35 percent for the game (26-73) and 14 percent from behind the arc (2-14). SU shot 59 percent from the charity stripe finishing (13-22).
Khadijah Brown led all scorers with 15 points and added eight rebounds for the Lady Lions. Ashlynn Green added eleven points adn three rebounds. Trasity Totten had a game-high ten rebounds and eight points for UAPB.

The Lady Jaguars will be back in action on Monday, January 18th when they host Mississippi Valley State on Martin Luther King Day. Tip-off is slated for 2 PM.
