Lady Jaguars Dominate Mississippi Valley State at Home 87-60

SU jumped out early on MVSU led by Genovea Johnson hitting the Jaguars first four points. The Lady Jaguars closed out the first half on a 7-0 run off a three-point basket deep from the right side by Nakia Kincey with 1:39 left in the half.

Johnson finished the night with 23 points shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Raven White added 15 points, Kincey finished with 14 points and two rebounds and Amani Mcwain chipped in 11 points along with four rebounds.

"I was very happy with the effort level and the performance of everyone tonight. We got off to a hot start offensively and kept going throughout the game. The players have done a great job putting in extra work and continuing to get better each and every week. We will get back in the gym on Wednesday and get ready for a big Alabama road trip this weekend.", said Head Coach Carlos Funchess.

The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Devilettes to 26 turnovers, picking up 33 points off turnovers. SU played all ten players with nine landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 58 percent for the game (33-57) and 41 percent from behind the arc (7-17). SU shot 70 percent from the charity stripe finishing (14-20).

Diamond Wraggs had a career night for Mississippi Valley shooting 7-of-10 from the field with 17 points and six rebounds. Zakiya Mahoney added 13 points and five rebounds and Ronni Williams chipped in 12 points in forty minutes of play.
