BATON ROUGE, LA. -- It has been 315 days since the last time Southerns' track teams got a chance to compete. After 11 months they got the chance to get back on the track at the LSU Purple Tiger Invitational Indoor Meet at the Carl Maddox Field House.
Trinity Bolden led the way starting off strong in the women's 60 meter dash; Bolden finished second in her heat qualifying for the finals with a time of 7.74 seconds. In the finals Bolden finished fifth overall with a time of 7.70 seconds. Both times were personal best performances.
"We kicked off the season after 11 months with some great performances. I'm happy the way the kids went out and preformed today. We are still a ways away from where we are going to be but I'm anxious to see what the year will bring. Men highlighted performances (All personal best) Freshman DeAnthony Nervis 60m, Kris Brown 60m, and
Daniel Harrold 60 hurdles; the women highlight performances were
Jada Childers 400m,
Trinity Bolden 60m (personal best) and
Logan Lewis shot put.", said Teremine White, SU Head Track and Field Coach.
Final Results - Women
Trinity Bolden finished fifth over all in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.70 seconds.
Jada Childers won the 400 Meter dash with a time of 59.17 seconds.
Kennedy Pedro finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.58 seconds.
Sydney Minor finished fourth in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:52.78 seconds.
Ariana Taylor finished fifth in the 1 mile run with a time of 6: 03.02 seconds. Southern 4x400 Meter relay comprised of
Jada Childers, Kennedy Pedro, Anndrela Woods and Qymeisha Mayhew finished third with a time 4:06.93 seconds. Jordan Landry and
Da'On Acosta went seventh and eighth in the triple jump with jumps of 10.81 meters and 10.78 meters.
Logan Lewis finished fourth overall in the shot put throwing for 13.25 meters and Alexandria McCoy finished seventh overall in the weight throw with a throw of 15.57 meters.
Final Results - Men
DeAnthony Nervis and
Kristopher Brown II finish second and third overall in the 60 meter dash with times of 6.767 and 6.768.
Simeon Coleman and
Kavin Roberts finished second and third overall in the 400 meter dash with time of 51.14 an 51.41 seconds.
Heisman Woods rounded out the finals, with a fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.23 seconds.
Nicholas Scott finished first overall in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:20.42 seconds.
Lafayette Collins finished fourth in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:48.11 seconds.
Daniel Harrold finished fifth overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds. Southern's 4x400 meter relay team comprised of
Nicholas Scott,
Kavin Roberts DeAnthony Nervis and
Simeon Coleman finished first overall with a time 3:21.36 seconds.
Ja'Carrius Demmerritte finished fifth overall in the long jump with a jump of 6.85 meters.
Char'Vares Wilson and
Keenan Villery finished fourth and fifth overall in the shot put with throws of 13.86 and 13.75 meters.
