New Orleans, LA. -- Southern drops a close game as they fell 7-5 to Grambling State in the final game of the Andre Dawson Classic.
The Jaguars pick up five runs off eight hits today in their final game of the classic. The game was tied 3-3 when Grambling scored three runs in the eighth inning on two hits with the aid of two Jaguars errors. SU gave up another run in the top of the ninth inning before picking up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
"We just have to do a better job of coaching them," Jackson said. "We made a lot of mistakes in two games, and we gave two games away. In the second game, we had four freshmen on the field. But this team will be much better this season.
Austin Haensel picks up his first loss of the season throwing 60 pitches with 41 strikes. The Jaguars scoring came from
Garrett Felix picking up two runs and Hampton Hudson,
Jovante Dorris,
Zavier Moore all had one run each.
SU is 2-2 on the season
