PRAIRIE VIEW, TX -- Southern picks up its first SWAC conference win of the season on Monday night as they cruised past Prairie View 68-48 led by senior guard Brittany Rose, at the Williams Nick Building on the campus of Prairie View A&M.
Rose had the hot hand tonight for the Jaguars shooting 4-of-7 from the field, finishing with 12 points and four rebounds. Junior point guard Caitlin Davis finished the night with 11 points and a game-high six assists. Sophomore forward Taneara Moore led all rebounders with seven picking up five of them on the defensive end. Moore and Jaden Towner added nine points each for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars had nine out eleven players land in the scoring column. Southern went into the locker room leading 36-22. SU shot 51 percent for the game (22-for-43) and 46 percent from three-point range (5-11). The Jaguars shot 63 percent from the free-throw line (19-30). Southern turned over Prairie View 22 times picking up 18 points off turnovers.

Due to the College Football National Championship game, Southern and Jackson State along with the SWAC office agreed to move up Mondays game to a 1 PM tipoff. The game was previously scheduled for a 5:30 PM tipoff.
