Damiree Burns had 12 points and five rebounds off the bench for the Jaguars but that wasn't enough as Prairie View (6-9, 2-0) defeats Southern (3-12, 0-2) 64-54 at William Nicks Building on Monday evening.

Darius Williams contributed seven points and a team high seven rebounds and two blocks.
Southern couldn't close the Panthers lead and headed into the locker room down 32-22. The Jaguars shot 46 percent for the game (20-for-44) and 29 percent from three-point range (4-14). The Jaguars shot 59 percent form free throw line (10-17).
